- To encourage cooperation among all persons engaged in the practice of Forensic Medicine in the Africa region.
- To foster education in Forensic Medicine through regular educational activities, scientific conferences, and workshops.
- To midwife the establishment of an African College of Forensic Medicine as a structured institution for specialist fellowship training in Forensic Medicine in the African region.
- To promote the appropriate use of Forensic Medicine and related sciences in medical practice and in the justice systems of various jurisdictions within the African region.
- To promote research in Forensic Medicine and related sciences and attract available research funding/grants for forensic medicine practitioners in Africa.
- To represent the special interests of Forensic Medicine and related sciences in medical and government circles.
- To facilitate the training, status, and conditions of employment and service for experts in Forensic Medicine.
- To facilitate national and international exchange programmes, professional postings, and learning placements in Forensic Medicine (and related sciences) for members.
- Members of the Society shall be encouraged and supported to form national or regional chapters of the Society in their various jurisdictions across Africa.
- To foster co-operation and affiliation with similar organizations for the promotion of forensic medicine practice in Africa.
- Closing Statement: To achieve these objectives, the Society shall be guided by the following constitution of the African Society of Forensic Medicine, hereinafter referred to as “the Constitution”.
