The African Society of Forensic Medicine (ASFM) is the premier pan-African professional body dedicated to uniting, advancing, and empowering the forensic medicine community across the continent. Established in 2012 and evolving from the African Network of Forensic Medicine (ANFM), we are a collective of medical and dental practitioners, scientists, and allied professionals committed to excellence in the application of forensic science to medicine and law.

Our Core Objectives
Guided by our constitution, the core objectives of the ASFM are:
To Foster Education & Excellence: We provide continuous professional development through biennial scientific conferences, workshops, and training programs to enhance the skills of forensic practitioners.
To Build Institutional Capacity: A key mission is to midwife the establishment of an African College of Forensic Medicine to standardize and offer specialist fellowship training across the region.
To Promote Research & Innovation: We actively promote and support research in all fields of forensic medicine and related sciences, seeking to attract funding and advance evidence-based practices.
To Advocate for the Profession: We represent the interests of forensic medicine in governmental, medical, and legal circles, advocating for the appropriate use of forensic science in justice delivery and for improved conditions of service for our members.
To Create a Collaborative Network: We facilitate national and international exchange programs, professional partnerships, and a robust network of experts for knowledge sharing and mutual support.
To Support National Chapters: We encourage and empower our members to form strong national ASFM chapters to drive our mission at the grassroots level.
